The area and its buildings formed the most important part of Manarola Mediaeval Castle
that was built in the Xth century and destroyed battleships from Genoa in the XVth century.
In the basement "cantina" the stone walls and arch have been preserved with only a few additions.
All upper floors, with the bedrooms, living room and terrace, have been restored according to an ecologically sensitive designs.
From Manarola it possible to explore Genoa coastline and northern Tuscany with the towns of Pisa and Florence.
