There are two holiday gites, each with its own entrance and parking area and there is a 12m x 6m solar heated swimming pool for the use of our guests.
Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available in two rooms in the main house.

Gite Le Provencal - sleeps 4/6 It is a lovely bright building with a private patio overlooking the swimming pool. The gite is accessed from its own private drive and parking area. The gite has 2 bedrooms, a shower room and a spacious open plan living/dining room with kitchen area, and opens onto its own patio and barbeque area. There is one double bedroom and one twin-bedded room, a large comfortable living area, and shower room. The living area has 2 couches, one of which is a double bed-settee, and a wood-burning stove (hardly needed in the summer but cosy in the winter). The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. |

Paunat is a small commune of some 230 souls in the heart of the Perigord Noir. Just 3.5 km to the north of La Maison des Bois is the small town of Sainte Alvère, which is the venue for the famous black truffle market. Ste. Alvère has a small supermarket, banks, doctor and, most importantly, a restaurant, bars and a baker. About 10 km to the east is the larger town of Le Bugue with a wider selection of shops and restaurants, and less than an hour’s drive away are the large towns of Perigueux to the north and Bergerac to the west.
Perigord is home to the greatest number of historic sites outside Paris. These range from châteaux and the 12th and 13th century Bastide towns to the Cro Magnon sites at Les Eyzies.
A short drive away is the medieval town of Sarlat, the little hill top fortified town of Domme and on the banks of the Dordogne the villages of Beynac with its château and Rocque Gageac whose houses are built into the rocks.
