Nerja is an old fishing town situated 52 km east of Malaga and a two hour drive from Granada and the splendid Alhambra Palace
on the southern coast of Spain. Nerja is built on a cliff, the focal point being the 'Balcon de Europa'
a promenade jutting out into the Mediterranean giving exceptional views along the coast and mountains.
The town has a maze of cobbled streets filled with shops, restaurants plus all the usual amenities.
A large street market is held every Tuesday morning. A coastal path leads directly from the town past
numerous small sandy coves to the large beach of Burriana, where a variety of water sports are
available as well as excellent beach bars and restaurants.
Nearby places to visit include the spectacular Cuevas de Nerja ( Nerja Caves ) and the petty mountain
village of Frigiliana. Nearby are the incredible
Nerja caves and the splendid Alhambra Palace is less than two hours
away. |
